PAULSON, Vivien E.
Vivien Evangeline Paulson, 91, of Rice Lake, WI, was born on October 25, 1917, to Edward and Mary (nee, Anderson) Thompson in Blanchardville, WI. Vivien graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1935, after which she attended Augsburg College and graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN, in 1939. Before retiring in 1968, she worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in LaCrosse, WI, Seattle, WA, Minneapolis, MN and Ashland, WI. Vivien married the Rev. Philip H. Paulson on March 29, 1941 in Seattle, WA. Together they served Lutheran congregations in Roseville, MN, Ashland, WI, Bayfield, WI, Seymour, WI and Rice Lake, WI. Vivien died on August 14, 2009 at the Heritage Manor in Rice Lake.

Vivien Paulson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Sue & Dr. Mark Waters of Rice Lake, WI; her son and daughter-in-law, Philip Thomas & Susan Paulson of Waunakee, WI; 6 grandchildren, Dean and Rebecca Southern, Gina (William) Fitzgibbon, Katie Paulson, Katie and Andy Waters; 2 great-grandchildren, JT and Bodie Fitzgibbon; her brother, Paul (Gloria) Thompson of New Glarus, WI; 2 sisters-in-law, Germaine Thompson of Nekoosa, WI and Julie Thompson of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Philip Paulson on August 21, 1993; an infant daughter; her parents, Edward and Mary Thompson and 2 brothers, John and Robert Thompson.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Russell Sorensen officiating. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 AM Saturday at the Church.
