Marie H. Lohse (nee Postelnick), age 97, a 14 year resident of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Lisle, IL, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at her home. She was born March 19, 1913 in Poland.
Beloved wife of the late Frederick C. “Fred” Lohse, whom she married March 13, 1932, loving mother of Frederick K. (Patricia) Lohse of Cameron, WI, Carol Stromberg of Rice Lake, WI, James (Teresa) Lohse of Downers Grove, IL and Ronald Lohse (Cheryl) of Aurora, IL, adored grandmother of 15, dear great-grandmother of 29, loving great great-grandmother of 16, devoted daughter of the late John and Theresa Postelnick, dear sister of the late Walter, Helen, John and Joanne and aunt of many.
Marie came to the United States from Poland in 1913 as a 9 month old infant and settled in Chicago. Marie married and later moved to Lisle where she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and worked at Amurol Gum Factory in Naperville. She moved to Rice Lake, WI in 1996 after many years of visiting and fishing in the area and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marie was known as a great cook, keeping many of her parents original old country recipes. She also enjoyed polka, crocheting tablecloths, making grape pie and tending her yearly vegetable garden and her special Polish tomatoes. Marie also loved pinochle and card games and the occasional trip to the St. Croix casino in Turtle Lake.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Father James Powers officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI.
Final prayers will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM Saturday at the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville, IL.
