LEVAN, Evelyn M.
(April 3, 1925 - July 3, 2010)
Evelyn Marie LeVan, age 85, of Rice Lake, WI passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Heritage Manor in Rice Lake.

Evelyn was born on April 3, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Evelyn graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1943. Evelyn married Robert G. LeVan on October 24, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, IA. They moved to the Rice Lake area in 1974. After retiring in 1987, they moved to Dahlonega, GA for 14 years and returned to Rice Lake in 2002.

Before Evelyn’s retirement she was employed by the Barron County Office on Aging to start and manage the Senior Sampler, a crafts and gift shop located in Rice Lake allowing senior citizens an outlet to sell crafts and gifts which were hand made. When Evelyn and Robert moved to Georgia she volunteered at the St. Mary’s Hospital and supervised the Gift Shop. Also while living in Georgia, she and Robert belonged to the Aurora Club, a community based non profit club. She held the position of President of the Aurora Club for 1 year.

Evelyn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, WI. Evelyn enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, fishing and especially watching or listening to baseball of all kinds.

Evelyn’s husband, Robert G. LeVan preceded her in death in May of 2008; and also a brother, Chuck.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Steven LeVan of Savannah, GA and Robert and daughter, Christine LeVan of Rice Lake, WI. Evelyn also is survived by her sister, Jeanette Gaskill of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Joe of Cedar Rapids, IA; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery at Spooner, WI where she will be buried with her husband, Robert.
