James E. Braas, age 82, of Rice Lake, WI, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.
Jim was born on November 3, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN to Edward and Vera (Van Pelt) Braas. He entered the United States Navy and became a Seaman 1st Class on the Carrier - USS Hornet and was later honorably discharged. He then founded the J.E. Braas Company in 1961 and stepped down as its CEO in 1988. The J.E. Braas Company continues today to be an employee owned company. In 1969 he was married to Delores Enquist Preston in Minneapolis, MN.
James Braas is survived by his wife, Delores Braas of Rice Lake, WI; 3 sons, Todd (Suzanne) Preston of Eden Prairie, MN, Terry Preston of Minneapolis, MN and Tim Preston of Smyrna, GA; 3 grandsons, Matthew Preston, Mitchell Preston and Nick Lunser; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Vera Braas; a brother, Thomas Braas and a sister, Mary Rutt.
Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 29, 2010 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, Fr. James Powers officiating. Friends may call from 11 AM - 1 PM Friday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
