Hellen Lakken, age 88, of Rice Lake, WI died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
She was born on October 22, 1920 in Oak Grove Township to Leslie and Delia (Schultz) Coleman. Hellen was married to Olaf Lakken on April 17, 1939 in Rice Lake. They lived and farmed in the Long Lake Township from 1939 - 1975.
Hellen was a member of the Long Lake Lutheran Church; she loved embroidery work, ceramics, watching sports - especially Baseball.
Hellen Lakken is survived by a daughter, Gloria Prock of Sarona, WI; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin & Arlene Lakken of Sarona, WI; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Byrdene Coleman of Anacortes, WA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf Lakken in 1982; a daughter, Jean Haugen; a son-in-law, Jim Prock; her parents, Leslie and Delia Coleman; 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Rev. Gerald Hibbard officiating, with interment in the Long Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 - 11 AM Wednesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
