Our Family - Staff

William H. Appleyard was born in Neillsville, WI on September 29th, 1935. After graduating from Neillsville HS in 1953, he served in the U.S. Navy and then attended the UW - Eau Claire for 3 years. On June 8, 1963 he was married to Patricia Hasse in Eau Claire while serving his internship at the Stokes & Sons Funeral Home. They moved to Milwaukee where he completed his education in Funeral Service in 1964. At that time he was employed at Schmidt-Bartelt Gerber Funeral Home in Wauwatosa. In 1968 they moved to Rice Lake where he was employed by William and Evelyn Mason at the Mason Funeral Home. In 1976 Bill and Patricia established Appleyard's Home for Funerals. He sold the business in January of 2010. They are the proud parents of 3 children - Kimberly Gilbertson, Krista Tillung, and Kent Appleyard.

Jon Tillung and family

Jon was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. In 1986 he graduated from High School in Bloomington, MN. He moved to Rice Lake in August of 1986 and attended University of Wisconsin - Barron County. Jon then started to work for Appleyard's Home for Funerals in September of 1986 and started to date Krista in December of that same year and were married in April of 1991. They moved to Chicago in August of 1991 and Jon started Mortuary School at Worsham's College of Mortuary Science and graduated in September 1992. He is a Licensed Funeral Director and has been the Co-Owner of the Funeral Home since January 2010. Jon also works with Northern Granite Company in Barron, Wisconsin as a salesman for the Monument Co. Jon and Krista have 2 children; a daughter, Kailey born in April 1996 and a son, Evan born in April 2000. Jon is very family oriented and loves and enjoys spending quality family time with his 2 children, wife, horses and dogs. Jon is an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, a member of the Rice Lake Elk's Lodge, Rice Lake Moose Lodge and Kinship of Rice Lake. Past board member of Rice Lake Main Street Association and Education Foundation of Rice Lake. Born to Richard & Ila (nee, Olson) Gilbertson and raised in Rice Lake. Boyd has many ties to Rice Lake and enjoys golfing and spending time with family. A 1975 graduate of Rice Lake High School and a 1987 graduate of WITC-Rice Lake, Boyd had periodically worked for Appleyard's Home for Funerals since 1979. Boyd has been office manager since 1988 and since January 2010 is Co-Owner of the Funeral Home. In 1998 Boyd was certified by the State of Wisconsin as a Certified Prearrangement Counselor (CPC), and approved to sell funded burial agreements. Boyd was married in 1987 to Kimberly Appleyard. Kimberly is a graduate of Rice Lake High School and owned and operated Cosmetology..P.S. in Rice Lake for many years. Kim and Boyd are also the proud parents of two daughters, Ashley Ila, born in 1996 and Megan Ann, born in 1999. Boyd, Kim and the girls hope to make Rice Lake their lifelong home.

Tyler Kilcoyne

Tyler is the son of Larry and Michelle (Atkins) Kilcoyne of Rice Lake; grandson of Connie Kilcoyne and the late Larry Kilcoyne of Rice Lake, Mitch and Donna Atkins of Rice Lake; great grandson of Dorothy Schwab of Rice Lake and Fanny Atkins of Rice Lake. He is a 2010 graduate of the Rice Lake High School. Tyler graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science with a Degree of Applied Science in March 2013 and is now a licensed Funeral Director. He loves to hunt, fish and spend time outdoors.
